- Resource Teacher works with students in kindergarten through eighth grade depending on needs for remediation and enrichment in reading and math.
- Develops accommodation plans for students who have documented needs and communicates with parents and teachers to guide through eligibility requirements.
- Facilitates group for Fifth Grade Battle of the Books contest offered by the City of Virginia Beach Public Library.
- Provides opportunities for students to enter PBS Young Writers Contest.
Kindergarten:
- Works with small groups to accommodate students who are emerging readers and those needing reinforcement
First Grade:
- Works with small groups to reinforce reading fundamentals
Second Grade:
- Facilitates enrichment reading and math groups
- Facilitates small reading groups to reinforce reading fundamentals.
Third Grade:
- Facilitates novel study
- Facilitates math enrichment groups.
Fourth Grade:
- Models reading skills to introduce leveled reader and facilitates small groups/assists teacher to differentiate learning
- Facilitates small groups to reinforce math fundamentals
- Coordinates community volunteer opportunities with homeroom teacher
Fifth Grade:
- Models reading skills to introduce leveled reader and facilitates small groups/assists teacher to differentiate learning
- Facilitates small groups to reinforce math fundamentals
Sixth Grade:
- Facilitates small groups to reinforce Language Arts
