Mrs. Van Buskirk began teaching at Star of the Sea in 2004.  She joined the faculty one year after her son, Peter, began his academic career at Star of the Sea.  Her daughter, Grace, also became a member of the Star of the Sea school family in 2004.  Her husband, Dan, and her children are all members of the Star of the Sea Parish.  They spend a lot of time at their home away from home.

In 1996, Mrs. Van Buskirk graduated from Old Dominion University with a Masters Degree in Special Education.  For seventeen years, she has worked with children in various capacities.  In addition to teaching, she directed summer camps and supervised recreation centers.  She counts her blessings everyday… one blessing is truly loving her job.

Her classroom is always busy.  There is no time to waste when it comes to learning.  Mrs. Van Buskirk prides herself on the ability to connect with each and every student with a variety of fun, engaging and interactive teaching strategies.
