Dear Star of the Sea Families,

This has been a very exciting beginning to the school year! It has been a year of some changes and a year of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the school. Through all of this we are striving to live the mission and the vision of Star of the Sea Catholic School – to provide a Christ centered learning environment. Focusing on the presence of God in our lives always helps to set the purpose for all of our decisions.

Our school vision states that it is “Catholic truth, values, and traditions fused with academic excellence that will empower students to reach their fullest potential and their ultimate goal of eternal life with Jesus.” It is with this vision in mind that I present an exciting opportunity. With the help of the strategic planning committee of the School Board, we are implementing our Smart Stars Campaign!

I have worked with the teachers to identify needs that we have at the school in order to continue providing the excellent educational opportunities here at Star of the Sea. One area that we feel is important to be able to move ahead with is technology. Providing the tools and opportunities for our teachers and students to integrate technology into the curriculum and learning is crucial to preparing students for the future. With this in mind, we are beginning the campaign to help provide up-to-date computers and introduce SMART Board technology into our school. Please see the attached sheet that outlines this new program and how each family can help. We ask for your continued support and commitment to Star of the Sea School.

Please join us for a demonstration of the SMART Board technology on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 8:00am and again at 3:00pm in the Media Center.
