Mrs. Paul is in her sixteenth year of teaching at Star of the Sea School, having taught Kindergarten before moving to First Grade. She is a native of Centralia, Pennsylvania, a small town in the coal region north of Harrisburg. She is a graduate of Immaculata College (now University), a Catholic university near Philadelphia.
Mrs. Paul is married to a retired Naval Officer, and their military moves allowed her to gain teaching experience in both South Carolina and Mississippi before arriving in Virginia Beach. Her three children are all graduates of Star of the Sea School and Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School. One of her sons was taught at Star of the Sea by the same I.H.M. sister ( Sister Eileen Dugan) that taught Mrs. Paul at St. Ignatius Grade School in Centralia!
It is with great enthusiasm that Mrs. Paul teaches First Grade. It is indeed a year of firsts. It is one of the most incredible years a child will ever have in his/her school career! First grade is an exciting time as the children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. Mrs. Paul works together with the parents to build the faith foundation for the students, as well as a life long love of learning. She works very hard to provide an integrated curriculum experience, that is very much hands-on and theme based.
Mrs. Paul is firmly committed to Catholic education. She is deeply rooted in the faith that was instilled in her by her loving parents and her own Catholic school experience. It is the Catholic faith, in a setting of academic excellence, which she wishes to join with parents in passing on to the next generation entrusted to Star of the Sea School.
