From the moment she discovered Mercer Mayer’s “Little Critter” books in Mrs. Raisin's kindergarten class, Mrs. Coles has been hooked on reading.  Whether it’s for enjoyment or information, reading is an essential tool in everyone’s life, and Mrs. Coles hopes to instill a love for reading in each of her students.

Mrs. Coles hails from the “Crescent City”– New Orleans, Louisiana.  There she graduated from the University of New Orleans with a bachelor degree in Elementary Education in 2003.  Mrs. Coles has experience teaching in 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms. 

In the summer of 2006, Mrs. Coles married her husband, Joseph, and moved to Virginia Beach only a few days later.  That fall, Mrs. Coles joined the faculty at Star of the Sea as the new Media Specialist/Librarian, and the media center hasn't been the same since! 

In addition to reading, Mrs. Coles enjoys spending time with her family and friends; playing with her cat, Phinley, and her puppy, Kaelo; and seeing as much of the world as she possibly can!
