Middle school students are at a critical age when independence with managing school work needs to be fostered.  I have encountered a terrific resource called Ending the Homework Hassle by John Rosemond.   He suggests parents remember the

ABCs of Homework

A – All by myself (no more homework at the kitchen table)

B – Back off (don't ask about assignments; don't unpack or pack the backpack and don't make special trips to school with forgotten assignments)

C- Cut-off time (all homework must be completed by a reasonable hour)
