Mrs. Bowen was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.  She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina in 1998.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in middle school education with concentrations in English and history.  The week after graduation she married her husband, Chris, a Lutheran pastor.  They moved to Virginia Beach in 2004 to serve St. Michael Lutheran Church.  The Bowens have two daughters, age 6 and 3.

This is Mrs. Bowen’s sixth year teaching but her second at Star of the Sea.  She is a lifelong Lutheran and has always been active at her church.  Her interests outside of the classroom include running, reading, travel and crafts.

Mrs. Bowen feels especially called to teach at the middle school level.  Her schooling and experience have prepared her to meet the unique needs of her students as they develop physically, socially, and emotionally.
