Star of the Sea Catholic School has been selected as a 2011 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the Council for American Private Education (CAPE). CAPE is a coalition of national organizations and state affiliates serving more than 34,000 private elementary and secondary schools in America.
It is an honor for Star of the Sea to be selected a recipient for this award. Established in 1982, the Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools that are either high performing or have improved student achievement to high levels. Star of the Sea was selected in the high performing school category. To be selected in the high performing category Star of the Sea’s scores in mathematics and reading for all grades tested in the most recent year, as measured by a nationally normed test, had to be among the top 15 percent of the schools in the nation.
The success of Star of the Sea can be attributed to the outstanding faculty and staff, students, parents, and community. Star of the Sea is able to continuously seek ways to improve the educational programs and practices due to the support of the entire school community. We will continue to seek new ways to motivate and engage students, encourage high levels of student achievement, and provide a foundation firmly rooted in the Catholic faith.
